Cavity Wall Insulation An un-insulated home can lose up to 35% of its heat through the walls so it is easy to see where significant savings on energy bills can be made by insulating the cavity between the walls.
The easiest way to spot if your house has a cavity is to look at the brick work on the outside of your house.

Cavity wall insulation will help reduce the amount of energy used to heat your house and once installed should last the lifetime of your house.
Installation of cavity wall insulation is simple and will take less than a day to complete. To ensure a total fill of the cavity, the insulation material is blown under pressure through a predetermined pattern of drilled holes that are filled afterwards with mortar and colour matched to your external walls as near as possible.
Every domestic cavity wall installation completed by Baring Insulation Limited is guaranteed for 25 years by CIGA (Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency). |

Sempatap Thermal Solid Wall Insulation
SEMPATAP THERMAL is as simple as wallpaper to apply with hardly any mess and can be decorated with virtually any finish - emulsion, wallpaper - it can even be tiled. SEMPATAP THERMAL can be redecorated with no problem and has a life expectancy of 30 years.
SEMPATAP THERMAL is approved as an Energy Saving Product by the Energy Saving Trust and is an EST “Recommended” product for the insulation of solid wall homes. It has been tested by the National Physical Laboratory and figures produced by the Building Research Establishment show considerable carbon saving. It will reduce the ‘u’ value by nearly 30%. In fact on a three bedroom semi detached house the annual carbon savings are 798kg, 119kg higher than cavity fill.
The energy savings using SEMPATAP THERMAL are dramatic providing warmer living conditions within the home, helping to lower heating bills and reducing heat loss through cold walls. SEMPATAP THERMAL can be used to insulate cold walls and can also be applied to ceilings, it can be installed in any type of solid wall home including solid brick, solid stone, concrete and homes with mansard roofs, dormer ceilings and park homes.
As SEMPATAP THERMAL is only 10mm thick it does not dramatically reduce the room size, it is particularly useful on gable end walls with staircases where the width is critical and for rooms formed within roof spaces. The flexible nature of SEMPATAP THERMAL when it is being applied allows it to follow contours reflecting the nature and character of some older dwellings. However, it will also provide a new sound "blank canvas" for decorating on the internal wall areas of more standard solid wall properties. |

Loft Insulation
The current recommended depth of insulation in the loft is 270mm (just over 10 inches), an un-insulated home can lose 25% of heating through the roof.
If your loft has not been insulated in the last 10 years, it will most likely need to be topped up.
Loft insulation is very quick and effective insulation measure that takes very little time to complete. The insulation is laid between the joists and the across the joists, this will act as blanket, trapping the heat rising from the house below.
As well as making sure the loft is fully insulated, lagging of tanks and pipes would also be carried out.
What happens to items stored in the loft?
Any stored items including any boards would require clearing prior to installation. Smaller items such as Christmas decorations and suitcases can be moved by our installers. |

Draught Proofing
Draughts are caused by cold air forcing its way through gaps around windows and doors and if you can feel cold air around your doors and windows, it means warm air is escaping too.
Draught proofing windows and doors is a cost effective way to reduce your heating bills if your house is not already double-glazed.
Draught proofing will make your home more comfortable, quieter and more energy efficient at a very low cost compared to new double-glazed windows or secondary glazing.
Draught proofing your loft hatch is essential, since hot air rises and is lost into the cold space in the loft. Cold air can also blow in through the gaps around the loft hatch. Loft hatches can be draught proofed and would normally be done at the same time as insulating the loft.
Draught-free homes are comfortable at lower temperatures – so you’ll be able to turn down your thermostat. |

Boarding Out Lofts
The loft space offers the ideal solution to anyone who is searching for extra storage space in their home.
A loft fitted with the full 270mm of insulation may be no good for storage, however Baring Insulation Ltd are able to offer a service whereby the joists in the loft space can be raised and a storage platform placed on top. If required, this can all be carried out at the same time as insulating your loft – our Surveyor would be happy to give a quotation.
Tongue-and-groove chipboard flooring (18mm) is used and would go on top of the raised joists, these are screwed down to form a solid, safe floor where you can safely store any items.
Always bear in mind that loft floors support light storage only as ceiling joists are not designed to take heavy loads. |

Features include; grooved treads and large hand rail for safe climbing, pivot arm mechanism provides smooth gliding action, metal safety catches secure ladder when extended and closed, safe for use up to 100kg.
In most properties loft hatches are usually located above the first floor landing and in some cases, will need enlarging if they are to be used regularly. Fitting a loft ladder, will in some cases require the access hole to be enlarged.
Fitting or enlarging a loft hatch to accommodate a new loft ladder is essential if you plan to board you loft for storage or just want to improve access to your roof space. |
